Jennifer Lommers The 2011 Poster Artwork was created by Jennifer Lommers. Here's her statement:

"A few years ago, my husband and I took an opportunity to choose where we wanted to live. We spent 2 years contemplating and visiting various cities, looking for the right fit for our family, while still wanting to stay within the Pacific Northwest. In the end, it was an easy choice - Corvallis. We were immediately attracted to this vibrant community nestled within a quiet valley slightly off the beaten path. We've now been here almost 3 years and we continue to love it - The landscapes with grassy pastures, gentle hillsides, large oak and evergreen trees, and rivers quietly meandering along. Sheep with Llamas presiding over pastures; blueberry fields; bicycle and running paths in constant use; the library; the parks; the coffee shops and restaurants; the waterfront; dog parks; college campus; wildlife; and oh so much more.

When considering the Fall Festival Poster design, I decided I had to include some of this imagery in the painting celebrating our new home. Using my drawings of these various elements and an image transfer technique I often use when melding drawn imagery with paint, I decided to apply them within a large oak tree, representative of the Corvallis community as part of a larger Willamette Valley. Within the tree you may find architecture around town with a runner, a dog (my dog, Jingle, actually), and a waterfront sculpture. A bicycle rests against the tree as I take a short break and contemplate this lovely new home. We are grateful to be a part of this active and vibrant community and look forward to many more years here in Corvallis enjoying all that it has to offer and giving back what we can.

My sincerest thanks to the Corvallis Fall Festival for affording me this opportunity."

This original acrylic ($850 unframed) will be shown along with another of Jennifer's pieces at this year’s Fine Arts Showcase.
